Audrey's Plantmania

An Annapolis gardener sharing her bounty at bargain prices

Lenten Rose (Helleborus orientalis) February 19, 2012

Unfurling in February (in a protected spot) and blooming all through March is the marvelous Lenten Rose, an expensive and highly-sought perennial.

I have seedlings from my mature plants, which are smothered with white and purple booms each year in late winter.  Plants will need 2-3 years before they will bloom, but the reward is worth the wait!
